Archimedes said, “Give me a lever long enough...and I will move the world.”
I often think of that quote when I think of the width, breadth and depth of the USGBC community. Because we have changemakers in every town, city, state and almost every country, individually and collectively we’ve become a powerful lever that is moving the world to a place that is healthier and more sustainable across so many dimensions.
Convergence is where we gather to get reenergized for that work; where we celebrate the many achievements and accomplishments of our volunteers; and where we strengthen our connections, learn from each other, foster collaboration and make sure we have the tools we need to keep delivering the green buildings and communities that are the cornerstones of our future.
This year, Convergence will be June 21–23, in Jacksonville, Fla.—the largest city by area in the United States, a coastal/wetlands city at risk in times of climate change and a city that has more solar panels than almost any other city in America. It’s against this backdrop that you’ll have a chance to hear from some amazing speakers, participate in top-notch, hands-on educational sessions that focus on volunteer skill building, market development, leadership cultivation, understanding of GBCI’s rating systems and so much more. We will also participate in community volunteer sustainability projects across Jacksonville.
As we continue our transition of leadership, you’ll also have a chance to hear more from Mahesh Ramanujam, who will step into the CEO role of USGBC in 2017. His vision about our path forward and his plans for getting us there will be an important component of this event, and I know you don’t want to miss it!
Looking forward to seeing you in Jacksonville in June!
